If you really want to get rid of FB theater mode for photos, you can do so by following the simple trick given below. But note that, it is not a permanent solution, and just a work-around.

Solution 1: When you click on a photo/album, it will open the photo in the theater mode, now in the address bar, look for “&theater” and delete it. Then, it will open the photo in the old format and you can start browsing the album as you used to do before.

Solution 2: A faster alternative for Option 1, is to refresh the browser. When reloaded, the photo will open in the old format and you can continue browsing as before.

We have discussed before the growth of location-based application like Foursquare and now its turn of Facebook adding the location-based discount facility as 100 Million People Use Facebook Mobile Every Month.

Facebook has announced the arrival of Places Deals in the UK, a new mobile phone discounting system that rewards those who regularly check-in to shops and restaurants, through Facebook Places, in the UK.

The location-based application is stepping on the toes of other services in the mobile world, most notably discount site Groupon.

There are a number of retail partners who have signed up to offer discounts if you use the service in their shop.

The type of deals differ from shop to shop but you can expect buy one get one offers and the like.

The launch is across Europe, with the UK being the first to launch.

Joanna Shields from Facebook said: “Facebook Deals represents the power of word of mouth marketing and personal recommendation.

“By checking in and taking the deal, this is shown on your news feed so your friends can also see what deals are taking place.”

Checking in and claiming your deals

Finding a deal is easy when you check in to a location when you’re out. Simply go to Places within the Facebook application on your phone, locate where you are from the list of local establishments (or do a manual search) and a list will show any ‘golden tickets’ that show a deal is on offer.

When you go to check-in, you’ll be shown more information and can then check in to redeem the offer, or make a donation.

Remember that tagging friends who are with you could offer even bigger benefits!

Facebook has recently announced that it raised $1.5 billion from global investors at a valuation of around $50 billion. The hacker targeted that announcement.

The unknown hacker posted a message on behalf of Mark, which was liked by around 1800 people and got over 140 comments – positive and negative.

The hacker posted the following message:

“Let the hacking begin: If Facebook needs money, instead of going to the banks, why doesn’t Facebook let its users invest in Facebook in a social way? Now this year, they have announcedthat they will be accepting Google and Facebook account logins via the OpenID authentication protocol. Yahoo! stated that this would make things easier for users to access Yahoo! services without the need to sign up, which is true, but the fact that other sites aren’t enabling Yahoo! logins shows that the service is indeed a dying breed. The new OpenID authentication system will start tomorrow, and I have a feeling it won’t be too long before we see Yahoo! closing its doors or being absorbed by another company. Oh, how far it has fallen. How many of you are avid Yahoo! users?

We are talking about Facebook Desktop, a small application by which you can receive all the notifications of Facebook directly on your desktop with convenient pop-up, a bit like the case with live messenger short.

Facebook Desktop so it is ideal for all those who visit frequently to check their respective notifications and its messages.

While Facebook only just surpassed Yahoo, posting 648 million visitors in contrast to 630 million for Yahoo, what’s more surprising is the overall trend. If you look at the next graph, while Google and Microsoft sites are still climbing, Facebook is having a near-meteoric rise to its growth trend.

Just noticed that Facebook has added a “Download Your Information” option under Account settings. This is a useful feature which allows Facebook users to easily download a copy of entire information, present on their Facebook profile.

Data that’s included when you Download your Facebook information:

• Your profile information (e.g. your contact information, interests, groups)
• Wall posts and content that you and your friends have posted to your profile
• Photos and videos that you have uploaded to your account
• Your friend list
• Notes you have created
• Events to which you have RSVP’d
• Your sent and received messages
• Any comments that you and your friends have made on your Wall posts, photos, and other profile content

To Download Facebook Information, go to your Account Settings page, click the ‘learn more’ link beside “Download Your Information.” From there, click the ‘Download’ button; a dialog-box will open, click the Download button. Then wait some time!

Unfortunately, there is no way to individually select which data you would like to download. The download is provided as a zip file, within this zip file you will have access to your data in a simple, browseable manner.

Note: Facebook will ask you to verify your identity in order to help protect the security of your account. After making the request, it may take some time to process your request and you will receive an email when your archive is ready for download.

Foursquare is the most popular location based social networking tool, and now it just got better. Foursquare now lets you attach photos to your Checkins, in fact, when you checkin anywhere with your iPhone app now, you’ll be prompted to add photos of that place. Photos can also be attached to tips and venues. Once you have checked in, you can continue to add more photos to your checkin detail page.

Another big feature Foursquare just rolled out is the ability for your friends to post comments on your Checkins. Photos that you upload are visible to your Foursquare friends and your friends at other permitted social networks like Facebook and Twitter, your comments however are only visible to your Foursquare friends. You can also view these photos and comments related to your past checkins on your History page anytime.

With everybody and their grandma creating a social networking service, Foursquare has made the right move to let their service be more interactive with these two features. This will give Foursquare a powerful boost with increased activity and definitely better loyalty of users. These features will also be rolled out to the Android app within next few days and to the Blackberry app early next year.

Do you hate getting invites from friends requesting you to install Facebook applications that are of no interest to you? Would you like to permanently block all those annoying Facebook apps that post messages to your wall without asking?

If you are someone like me who primarily uses Facebook to connect with family members and have little interest in Facebook apps, you can choose to permanently opt-out of the Facebook apps platform. This will make your profile inaccessible to all other apps and you therefore won’t get any invites or wall posts in future.

To disable the Facebook apps platform, log in to your Facebook account, select Privacy Settings under Account and then click “Edit your settings” under the Applications and Websites section. Here you’ll see an option to turn off all the platform applications with a single click.

Divvyshot, which launched with backing from the Y Combinator incubator, allows for group photo sharing: multiple users can edit albums, which are grouped around various events and places. As part of the acquisition, the service will be shutting down.

“Divvyshot will begin winding down operations as of today,” the announcement explained. “Existing users can continue to use Divvyshot; however no new accounts will be issued and our iPhone application will no longer be available for download.” In six weeks, Divvyshot.com will start redirecting to Facebook altogether.

As part of the acquisition, under which “many of the company’s assets” have become Facebook property, founder Sam Odio as well as the company’s two other employees, Michael Yuan and Paul Carduner, will be part of the team that works on Facebook’s photo-sharing application. Facebook Photos, the most popular photo-sharing destination in the world, sees more than 3 billion photographs uploaded every month.
