Apple Makes $3.25 Billion Profit in 3rd Quarter, 78% Revenue Increase

Apple who have had a few big launches this year including the iPad and iPhone 4 have had a profitable 3rd quarter with a 78% increase in earnings. In the 3rd Quarter Apple made $15.7 billion in revenues and $3.25 billion in profits.

Apple LogoIn the 3rd quarter, Apple sold 3.47 million Macs which was a 33% increase YoY. They also sold 8.4 million iPhone which was a 61% growth over iPhone sales from same quarter last year. Next generation iPhone 4G HD new Images

Another iPhone has leaked onto the Internet via a Vietnamese website. They’ve posted a large gallery of shots making it clear that they have a unit in their possession. Teardown photos showed a processor marked with the Apple logo, which suggests that the iPhone HD does indeed run an Apple A4 like the iPad (or at least some custom alternative).

Bing nowhere to be found in iPhone OS 4.0

Rumors that Bing was to be the default search engine in an upcoming iPhone OS update can continue to be filed in the rumor bin, at least based on the developer preview release of OS 4.0.

Bing is still nowhere to be seen in the iPhone’s Safari app, or anywhere else in the preview version of the OS. Besides Google, which remains the default search engine, the only other option remains Yahoo.

It’s still possible that the Apple/Microsoft deal could be under way though. And if that’s the case, it could just as easily make it into a future beta of the OS, or in the version that will be made available to iPhone owners sometime this summer.

One interesting change worth noting is that Web searches are now more ingrained into the system search that was implemented in OS 3.0. Now, when doing a local search on your phone, the iPhone will spit up quick links for Web and Wikipedia searches using Safari. This could place more importance on whatever search engine you’re using as the default. Read more »

Street Fighter 4 Coming to iPhone/iPod Touch

A portable version of the popular fighting game Street Fighter 4 with lesser number of characters is headed to iPhone/iPod Touch and will hit the App Store next month. iPhone SDK 3.2 beta 2 busts loose

You’ve got to be one of the cool kids that shelled out a Benjamin to get into the iPhone Developer Program to get access, but if you’re already a card-carrying member, it looks like you’ve now got a green light to download beta 2 of the iPhone SDK for OS 3.2. We don’t know what’s new, changed, or removed, but presumably, most of the updates would center around the sundry changes Apple has made to support the iPad in the latest version of its mobile platform — so drop us a line and let us know what you find, alright?
