Twitter to block malicious links

Twitter is launching a new service designed to stop users of the social-media site from getting duped by phishing links that steal their login credentials and other attacks.

The company will route all links submitted to the site through a filter created to catch links that lead to malware, the company said on the Twitter blog on Tuesday.

“A couple weeks ago, Biz [Stone, Twitter co-founder] explained how Twitter users were being victimized by phishing scams spread primarily through links in direct messages,” the post said. “Basically, people click the link and bad things happen. My team can only detect these scams after malicious links have already been sent out.”

Twitter and Yahoo close huge Content Deal

Micro blogging site Twitter has joined forces with fledgling company Yahoo to make a lot of money – as per the deal Twitter and Yahoo will be tightly integrated and those using the latter would be able to access their Tweets from the Yahoo home page as well as Mail, Sports and others.

As a result more than 600 million users will be able to share real time tweets as folks will be able to Tweet from Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Sports and others. Yahoo search will also be including real-time Twitter updates. “Let me try to capture the enormity of this integration in 140 characters or less,” Yahoo! Awesome Indian Things rule Twitter!

Millions of Indians went crazy over micro blogging site Twitter on a seemingly dull Monday afternoon as the topic #AwesomeIndianThings all of a sudden began trending, and went on to become the number one Trending Topic in a span of 30 minutes!

Needless to say Indians bored at work or even at home were entertained as hundreds of Tweets appeared every 10 seconds, detailed with things that are #awesome in India. Some folks rooted for cricket demi God Sachin Tendulkar, some tweeted about delicious food items like Paani Poori and Vada Paav, others took names of famous Indian authors like RK Narayan and even Chetan Bhagat, who apparently started the topic a few days ago. Google Buzz Bridges Social Media and GmailGoogle has linked Gmail to a new service it calls “Google Buzz.” Buzz facilitates the instantaneous sharing of info like status updates, links and videos between Gmail users in a setup that will likely look fairly familiar to users of sites like Facebook. Can Buzz build upon an already strong Gmail base, or do users who are interested in this sort of communication already get a good enough fix from Facebook?
